Description
The third lumbar vertebra is distorted and compressed by invagination of the intervertebral disc
between the second and third vertebrae. This disc immediately below protrudes posteriorly.
History
This man died in congestive heart failure secondary to chronic obstructive respiratory
disease; twenty years before, his spine had been injured in a motor vehicle accident but the level of
the injury is not known.
